Senior Backend Ruby on Rails Developer required | Berlin | €50,000 to €70,000 + Benefits | VC funded E-commerce start-up.

Devonshire is working directly with one of Germanys most promising VC backed start ups of 2010.

Since the initial launch; they are making waves within European e-commerce market and are now looking to attract/hire a large number of specialist Rubyists to work on the company’s core platform onsite at the companies HQ in Berlin.

The five person Ruby team work in a strict Agile, test driven development environment covering all aspects of the SDLC. You will join the team and work specifically on evolving the backend Rails platform, developing and enhancing the key features and improving general performance and scalability.


If you’re an entrepreneurial Rubyist and think you can take a niche idea evolve it into a world leading technical platform with a number Ruby Gurus with the backing of a leading VC firm! This opening is not to be missed.

Skills needed
• 2/3 years Ruby/Ruby on Rails commercial experience
• Exposure to C/C++.
• MySQL/SQL including writing complex quires and DBA/Optimization
• Experience in scaling up web applications quickly (memcache)
• Be familiar with Agile (TDD) environments using RSpec/Cucumber
• Be comfortable working on a Mac day to day and Linux/Unix platforms for deployment.
• Knowledge of integration 3rd Party API’s, Amazon Web services and Cloud Computing
• Any exposure to Erlang/RabbitMQ would be brilliant!
• You will be a keen team player, flexible and up for a challenge.

In return you will receive:

• A salary in the region of €50,000 to €70,000.
