Devonshire IT is working with a leading SME to hire a number of Midlevel Ruby on Rails Developers to join the London team.

The Rails team was set up 3-4 years ago to enable the business to quickly release new products, web tools, applications and internal micro sites. Due to the positive response from the internal end users the Ruby team is going to be expanding throughout 2010/11.

They work within the strict Agile/TDD environment with sprint cycles ranging depending on project size. The team receives 10% personal development time to research/keep up-to-date with new advancements within the Ruby space. The team will regularly attend the likes of LRUG, RailsConf Europe etc etc etc.

Ruby (Ruby on Rails) 3+ years commercial knowledge
Haml, SaaS (XHTML, CSS)
JavaScript (JQuery/Prototype)
XML, MySQL
UNIX, Linux command line use
Source control via Git/SVN
Agile (TDD) or Paired Programming
RSpec/Cucumber/Factory_Girl

Ruby on Rails Developers x 3 | 3-6 Month Contract | Greenfield Project | £300 to £400 per day | London City | 100% Onsite – No Telecommute – No Outsourcing Companies | Immediate opening

Devonshire IT is working exclusively with a fast growing SME to build the best Rails team in London.

They are currently setting up a brand new Rails division which will focus on prototyping, new product development and continuous integration across the internal business. You will work to short iterations using strict Agile (TDD/BDD) methods with the view to move into a lean programming environment as the team grows.

Initially we are urgently seeking highly skilled Ruby on Rails Contract Developers to work onsite in the London office to deliver a large number of ground breaking Greenfield Rails 3.0 projects over the next 3-6 months.

Skills Needed

3+ years Ruby/Ruby on Rails with exposure to 3.0
Merb
Secondary programming experience with Perl, PHP, Java or C.
A full understanding of Agile (TDD/BDD) and its pro’s/cons
Experience using RSpec/Cucumber or Factory_Girl
Excellent knowledge of the MySQL database including set up’s, performance tuning, administration etc.
Knowledge of the Unix/Linux command line (Apache/Mongrel/Ubuntu)
Git/SVN
Haml, SaaS (HTML, CSS)
A good understanding of JavaScript (Prototype/JQuery)

Senior/Lead Ruby on Rails Developer Required| 45,000 - £50,000 DOE + Benefits Package etc| Cambridge

I’m keen to speak with Ruby on Rails enthusiasts who are looking for a new opportunity in Cambridge.

You will join a rapidly expanding 8 + team as the technical team lead. Whilst working closely with the Head of Development; you will set out project timescales and budgets, conduct regular code reviews and draw up agreed sprint cycles whilst remaining technically hands on.

The team currently works within the Agile (TDD) environment using RSpec/Cucumber with project lengths ranging between 1-3 months. This is broken down into bi-weekly sprint cycles.

Skills Needed

• 2+ years commercial Ruby/Ruby on Rails experience
• Commercial experience within one other opensource programming language i.e. Perl, PHP, Java or C.
• A full understanding of the TDD process and its benefits
• Be keen on providing maximum test coverage using RSpec/Cucumber or Factory_Girl
• Knowledge of the MySQL database tuning, administration etc.
• Knowledge of the Unix/Linux command line (Apache/Mongrel)
• Git

You will work within the Agile (TDD) environment using RSpec leading a team of 6 other experienced Rubyists to develop a number of brand new innovative products and web based apps for the internal group.

The team current work to bi-weekly sprint cycle’s with morning meetings reserved for serious brainstorming and coffee drinking!

You will be allocated time to try out new development tools and will also able to work on your own personal projects.

To be considered
