Senior Ruby on Rails Developer/Architect | £50,000 - £65,000 + Flexi Benefits | London

One of the UK's fastest growing, award winning start up's are actively seeking an experienced Ruby on Rails Developer/Architect to join the team in the London office.

Reporting to the E-commerce Manager you will work alongside some of the top Rubyists in the UK to take responsibility of evolving the architecture and building systems that can handle millions of requests daily, whilst processing billions of records and terabytes of data.

You will also drive the design, development and implementation of new functionalities/web based applications for internal and external business use within the strict Agile (TDD) environment.

Key accountabilities

• Develop and implement new functionalities for a number of external e-commerce applications/sites.
• Developing high availability, large scalable web based applications
• Strategic planning of bi-weekly agile sprints
• Defining the systems architecture
• Support and maintenance of existing applications.

Your knowledge, skills and experience

• Experience in developing high availability, large scalable web based applications.
• In-depth OOD/OOP
• A solid programming background in Ruby/Ruby on Rails
• Exposure to Agile (TDD) using RSpec
• Good understanding of MySQL/SQL database
• Unix/Linux command line exposure
• Have good front-end scripting skills - (X)HTML, CSS, JavaScript libraries (i.e. Prototype, JQuery, Scriptaculous etc)
