Our London based Web 2.0/Media client are on the second round of there 2010 expansion plans. After successfully securing a top Rubyist who has now settled; they are now interested in hiring two more experienced Rubyists to join the specialist new product division.

The team currently stands at five with the view to hire another two by the end of 2010. They are highly experienced and are highly regarded within the business. They have a total of 15 years Ruby experience between them. They base the development on pushing technical boundaries, remaining at the forefront of technical advancements within the Opensource development space and keeping active within the London Ruby scene.

You will work closely with the “business as usual” team within an Agile (TDD) environment using RSpec to deliver a number of web tools and applications for internal use on a global scale. All development is from the ground up! You will take ownership, get involved in the prototyping stages and take the project from concept to launch. Progress is measured in-line with the bi-weekly sprint cycle.

This is a challenging role; you will be expected to work hard, deliver to tight deadlines and use your expertise increase productivity. This position offers a stable, team driven environment within a dynamic/growing organistation. For a large firm there is little “red tape” restrictions on the tools available for use.

Skills needed
• 18/24 months Ruby/Ruby on Rails commercial experience
• Hands on experience of working within an Agile/TDD environment using RSpec/Cucumber
• MySQL/SQL database including performance tuning/creating tables.
• Experience using Linux (Capistrano) for deployment
• Front-end scripting - (X)HTML, CSS, JavaScript (i.e. Prototype, JQuery, Scriptaculous etc)

If you have any knowledge of Knowledge of JRuby/Java or Scala would be also be highly advantageous!
