Our leading Cambridge based Research and Development client have hired 2-3 Rubyists so far this year. Due to the steady increase in workload and continuous expansion plans they are actively seeking a passionate Senior/Lead Ruby on Rails Developer to join the team.

The team works on large-scale, innovative application development, adding additional functionalities of the in-house tools and maintenance/support of existing projects. All project driven work is within the Agile (TDD) environment and may well move into Lean Programming due to the need for continuous integration across the internal business.

Project lengths range between 1-3 months which are currently spilt into bi-weekly sprint cycles, working in this team you get knee deep in all aspects of the front and backend development.

This position offers a fantastic working environment, the chance to work with a number of highly skilled, pro-active Developers on a number of ground breaking projects which change the way people use technology in the future.

Skills needed

• 12/18 months Ruby/Ruby on Rails commercial experience
• Exposure to other MVC frameworks (Django, Zend, etc etc etc)
• Knowledge of Agile/TDD methods
• Exposure to testing using Selenium or RSpec
• Strong Front-end Scripting skills- XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, Prototype
• Knowledge of the Unix/Linux command line (Capistrano)
• Git

If you currently use Mac for day to day development and have experience deploying apps on the Linux server it would be highly advantageous.
